He is renowned for his legal consultancy services provided to both foreign and local clients, individuals and legal entities especially with respect to criminal and criminal procedure law as well as administrative sanctions, commercial criminal law, economic and financial criminal law. Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocasakal’s practice focuses on financial criminal law areas where criminal law becomes crucial in economic related matters that can be defined as white collar crimes such as money laundering, fraud and aggravated fraud, embezzlement, capital market crimes, stock market manipulation.

EXPERTISE

Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocasakal provides legal consultancy services on economic crimes to local and international companies active in various sectors as well as corporate officers and advise them to ensure a protective mechanism against misconduct risks, take necessary measures in terms of internal and independent audit and develop an effective defence mechanism against such risks.

EXPERIENCE

He has served as the President of Human Rights Centre of Istanbul Bar Association in 2004-2006 and has been elected 3 consecutive times as the President of Istanbul Bar Association between 2010-2016. Being renowned for his significant works notably in criminal law as well as in various areas of law including human rights and constitutional law and having authored several articles and papers on legal issues, Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocasakal is the Head of the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Law Department at Galatasaray University and gives criminal law lectures at Yeditepe University.
